Coming Soon: A new ride, a new weapon, and achievements!

ey Portians!

We’re excited to share with you a first look at what you can expect to see in the next update for My Time At Portia. We’ve just upgraded Unity, which will help us with optimisation and compatibility, and make the port to consoles much easier. Aside from that, we’ve been working on some new game features that will be coming very soon. Here’s a sneak peek…

Achievements

As we’ve now progressed on from the early stages of development, we will be adding achievements to the game. This won’t be the full and final list, as we will be adding more in later updates. So, if you have any thoughts or ideas on what you’d like to see, please leave us a comment below, and maybe you’ll even see one of your ideas go into the game!

Rename your workshop

We’ve had lots of feedback from players who want to be able to change the name of their workshop. We’re adding that feature in with this update! Head to the mayor’s office to complete a form and pay a service fee to change your workshop name – it’s a very official process!

Catch a new ride

We had lots of you suggesting that you’d like to be able to catch a wild animal to ride. We were inundated with requests for the colourful llama to be your trusty steed, so we’re adding this one in first!

If you want to hunt a colourful llama, you’ll need a trap cage to catch them with, as well as a specific type of food to increase the favour points. When ready, a button command will appear on screen that will indicate that you can tame it. After completing a series of quick time commands you’ll be able to make the llama your new mount.

Of course, as a mount, the attributes and loyalty of the colourful llama can be improved just like your horse and you can train the llama in the stable.

Annual workshop competition

So, are you a good builder? In this update, we’ll be adding a ranking system at the end of every year. On the last day of the year, we’ll announce who the winning builder is in Portia, according to your workshop scores. At the start of the next year, there will be an award ceremony hosted in Peach Plaza. You can choose whether you’d like to participate in this competition or not, but if you choose to give up, you will not receive a prize.

New weapon – gun

You’ll now be able to have a ranged weapon in My Time At Portia! At the moment, you can only use melee weapons (sword, hammer or boxing gloves). With this update, you’ll be able to get your hands on a new ranged weapon – a shotgun.

If you want to build a shotgun, you’ll need to collect the appropriate materials first. So, do you think this weapon will be powerful? We’ll let you find that out for yourselves! But we can tell you that the shotgun has an embedded laser device. Sounds cool, right?

We’ll also be adding harbour missions, the level 3 assembly station, and we’ll be optimising the riding system. Follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and stay tuned for more info!

The question that is killing me: when can we expect a version for Mac? I am so excited for this game that I check almost every day.

I am also checking almost daily hoping for a Mac release! I’m so excited to play. A few of the Youtuber’s I follow have release gameplay videos and I’m so enchanted by what I have seen! I would love to get an idea if/when a Mac release is coming! I’m hoping we’ll see something by or before E3!

I just bought the game on Steam and I’m very much enjoying it so far! Keep up the great work.
(also, I think there should be achievement for reaching max friendship with Pinky the Cat, because she’s just wonderful)

I’ve gone back and forth about buying this but seeing the llama mount and the sale on steam means that now is my time in Portia!

It would be cool if you could have an option to change your character’s appearance again, maybe at the doctor or something 🙂

Idea for an achievement; a humorous achievement. Like, have one be for finding a diamond in animal feces with a clever title.

I want to love this game like I love Stardew Valley, but it is nowhere close to being decent yet. I understand the game is in early access but for a beta/early access, it lacks polish. The writing is not great (often wrong or misspelled translation) and the characters are not as interesting or as deep as in Stardew. Most of the game is actually pretty good but the combat system breaks the game for me especially since it it required to progress, and the recently added “Game Over” and day restart has only made it even more unplayable. Until they fix the horrendous combat system, I can not and will not recommend this game.

Put a Dee-Dee Stop at the town entrance near the Research center and by McDonald’s farm! Plastic surgery options at the clinic to change your character’s appearance. And put an option to move crafting stations from the A&G Catalog. I was trying to expand my house and had to run all the way back to my farm to move crafting stations to make enough room. It would have been a lot nicer to just be able to move them from the catalog menu.

Love this game, just bought it 5 days ago and have already put in 40 hours of game play. The only glitch I’ve noticed is that sometimes when I talk to the townies I can’t hear the audio of the conversation. I hope this problem is fixed soon. Other than that, it’s an awesome game.

I’d like to be able to throw some bombs along with using my new shotgun. It fristrating to make bombs to use in a fight and when you get there they don’t do anything… at all.

I would like the bombs that I thought I could use, but didn’t find out until the middle of a fight that they don’t really work, to work so they aren’t sitting in a chest doing nothing. Also I thought there was a new metal chest but mine is still the old one and the recipe book I used to learn didn’t seem to work unless I’m looking in the wrong place for it.

I really loved the game so far and you are doing a great work guys! There’re just a few points that I believe you can improve, but it’s just my opinion:

    – I think the appereance of the bachelors and bachelorettes need a revamp. I mean, there’re great characters like Emily, Arlo, Mint, and Petra, but the others are quite strange. The options to create your own character lead you towards a “young face”, and the NPC’s don’t fit in this perspective. Or maybe having more options of people to date… Anyway!

    – The combat seems a little bit instable, sometimes the mobs just smash your soul out while you’re stuck on a box, or in the wall.

    – The characters needs more depth on their personality, cause no matter the season, the circunstances or the event, they keep saying the same two phrases forever. They need some individual quests, so we can know their life background.

    – Some audios are missing on the dialogues, but I think you already know about this.

Love the game. My main complaint is the horse that won’t “stay”. Even if you rent a trained horse, as soon as you enter a building and exit again, it forgets to stay and starts following you. This is especially annoying when it enters the workshop yard. Also some item acquisition in collapsed ruin needs balancing. A data disk or small engine is not a “major” find, there’s too many of them. Otoh, getting enough hardening liquid is a major chore, it should be more available.
